The Oxford Research Group has published a briefing by Paul Rogers about the logistics and likely outcome of a US or Israeli attack on Iran. Rogers' briefing on Iraq before shock and awe was very prescient and sadly, this new Iran document may be as well. The briefing can be read or downloaded here:

http://www.iranbodycount.org/

ORG is a very reliable source for such information and this link was passed along by a friend who has served as a UN Peacekeeper in the Middle East. He asks that we all pass this information around and use it to try to prevent W's next war - I've sent it as a PDF to my Senators and am calling their foreign policy staff to make sure they notice it. Consider doing the same.

...pressing hands against ears. Don't want to hear. don't want to see!

Seriously, I am still in denial. A war against Iran would be such a crazy thing to do even for this band of crazy greedy homicidal powerhungry monkeys. I know it might happen but somewhere I refuse to really believe it. Sort of the same way some refuse any argument as to election fraud in the US, the consequences would be to horrible. Will be interesting to find out what my subconscious does once the nukes hit the ground.

Btw, my subconscious helped me with the denial and wrote Iraq instead of Iran. If I had not proofread it it would have said "A war against Iraq ..."

Sy Hersh's article this week in the New Yorker details the plans to nuke Iran here:

The Iran Plans

What to do? Demand from all authorities that the world community say no to any such attack - contact your representatives whereever you are now.

For US folks, let's download the PDF from the link in the first post in this thread and email the briefing to our pols - let them know we demand that they cut off funding and do everything possible to stop W's next war crime. Find your Senators here:
Senate Contact List

and your Reps here: Congressional Contact List

the louder I hum, the louder the war drums beat

That is the sound of my reps, Allen and Warner and Cantor, with their fingers in their ears. Denial all around me.

My SO and I ran to the store yesterday after work and coming home I became aware of a humongous SUV right up close behind me. When he got a chance he whipped past me in the other lane with his bush/cheney sticker. SO pointed it out. I guess he was tired of reading my stickers. Why don't they get it?!?

Seriously, is there anything else? I wrote to congress through MoveOn but what good will it do? I'm tempted to make a sign and stand alone somewhere.

Beq - the gang over a Firedoglake are organizing by states and then trying to arrange group visits to congresscritters during the easter break - you might enjoy joining in or at least having a way to hook up with friendly folk in your area. You can join your state group by sending an email with just your state in the subject line to pachacutec01 at gmail dot com and include your screen name (you can mention me if you are not an FDL reader).

Do I think this will work - actually no, but I do think we have to try.

It is a very scary time and I don't know what else to do.

I'll do it but I'm so disappointed with FDL since they "up-graded" their site, I can't get through my office filter to the articles and comments, only the main page. I made a comment about this somewhere on the old site when they first changed and never got a reply. Is there anything I can do? I miss it. (same thing with DKos but I don't miss that having never really been there).

is that like lalalalala...

have you tried recently since some folks had trouble at first but then it seemed fixed - if it's still blocking you, email Pachucatec and ask for help ... he's doing a lot of coordination and may have a solution.

I don't know if folks are familiar with markfromireland's blogs but his posting for Good Friday is devastating and necessary. To visit, click here

or or here

Mark is a UN Peacekeeper, living in Denmark, with a son named Du serving in Afghanistan now. Mark may visit our little home here as well so say hello if you see him stop by.

That pictorial essay is devastating.

And I must say that the Cheney photo(shop) immediately under this essay (on the click here line, not the second one) is one of the more disturbing things I've seen.

Thanks, siun. I heard from Pachacutec. Nothing else concerning fdl. I still can't get to the articles but I'll keep trying. It makes me crazy. "Pornography". Please.

Mark. How long have you been in Denmark? Oh, I'd love to be there too. Back up two generations and I would be Danish not "American". :(

I only had time to read the Executive Summary of the Oxford Group briefing.

If you folks enjoy briefings, you also might want to check out this site:

http://turcopolier.typepad.com/sic_semper_tyrannis/

Colonel Lang's site attracts an eclectic group.

While there you might want to check out the following declassified Pentagon briefing papers:

1.The Long War (23 february)

2.Eschatology, wow! (15 March)

Also interesting is Erasmus' analysis of the effect an attack on Iran might have within Iraq:

How Bad Can It Get (13 April)

After reading 1 & 2 I am sure you will be impressed, as I was, by the strategic acuity of current Pentagon thinking.

Got to return to work.

My batman Weiner and I are busily reinforcing our respective funk holes against the coming shock and awe.

Yours sincerely,

Field Marshal Sir
